On the 13th of January 2017, SAVCG Secretary Ryk TRAEGER paid a visit to the “Friends For Street Children” (FFSCA), Binh Trieu Development Centre in Sai Gon, to see the progress in the rebuilding of the premises. The Government wants to reclaim some of the land to widen a road and as you can see the buildings have been structurally damaged by the building of a new residence abutting the western side.
Below: One of the 3 remaining Classrooms on the upper level ….. Yes that IS sunlight you can see through the cracks in the wall

Below: Looking north from upstairs from the balcony on the upper level near pic. Approximately 2/3rds of the complex has been demolished.

Below: Looking back toward the centre from the eastern side of the road to be widened

Below: Almost “same same” Australian Army … where everyone gets a haircut. All the resident orphans, and poor kids who visit every day, were given a free haircut so as to look neat for TET … the Vietnamese Lunar New Year.

Despite the overcrowded and trying conditions the kids are still happy and able to smile.
A seven figure number of Dollars is needed to complete the Centre ……. SAVCG unfortunately does not have that sort of money to offer, we will be looking to raise additional money toward the project so any special donations would be greatly appreciated.
