The 8th of November, 2014, saw ABC Radio 891 presenter & Sunday Mail Columnist, Mr. Peter Goers, launch an exhibition of Calendar and Art works by Mr. Neil Griffin, in the Torrens Parade Ground Combined Ex-servicemen Mess, Adelaide.
The 2 day exhibition turned out to be a great success with between 70-80 people attending, and the resulting sale of 5 paintings and over 70 calendars.
When interviewed, Neil shared his inspiration for the works: “After travelling in Viet Nam in both 2013 and 2014, I was inspired to work on a series of paintings that reflect everyday life in Viet Nam. From these originals, a Calendar for 2015 has been produced. The inspiration for my paintings has also come from the work of the South Australian Viet Nam Charity Group Inc., established to assist orphans and impoverished in Viet Nam. The Co-ordinators of this group are Mr Lloyd Stevens, Mr Wayne Honeychurch and Mr Ryk Traeger. With their backing and support I am pleased to have produced a body of work that portrays something of the life and people of Viet Nam”.
The Calendars will be for sale at $20 each, with profits going to the Charity Group.
The RSL, VVA and SAVCG will all have calendars to sell, and the RSA art society on North Terrace is also a sale point. Calendars will also be available at the Torrens Parade Grounds venue on the evening of 21st November. You can message Neil on Facebook if you wish to purchase any of his art work or calendars, and he can organise alternative selling points to groups or multiple purchasers.

SAVCG gratefully acknowledges the support of Neil and his generous donation of 20% of the proceeds from his wonderful Viet Nam art work collection sales plus all profits from his 2015 calendar.
